Lucinda Grover, Board of Directors
I was introduced to the St. Francis of Assisi Sculpture Garden by my friend, Tricia. “I want to show you something, tell me what you think.” We walked from her house down a block and up a weathered stone staircase. I was already amazed; it didn’t feel like the city of Grand Rapids anymore. We came to a gazebo entrance and proceeded down paths that wound around sculptures and meandered through woods. A creek bed. A grove of redbud saplings. Meadow flowers! I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. When she asked me if I wanted to be on the board and help with future garden development it became a personal place. I’ve walked with her through the woods since then and every time we do, there is something new to see. It is a gem of a place. A sweet and beautiful little gem of a place.
